09 Jan Festive Gift For Local Hospice From Leeds IT Firm

by Alex Witham

Martin House Children’s Hospice in Wetherby received an early Christmas gift this week, with a funding boost from Leeds-based IT firm DTP, which signalled the start of its year-long commitment to Martin House Hospice for 2012.

Howard Hall, Managing Director of IT solutions specialist DTP Group visited the hospice on Tuesday 20 December to present an initial donation of £500 in vouchers for toys and electrical equipment.

Howard explains: “We selected Martin House as our charity partner for 2012 because it’s a local facility, doing a great job looking after local children and supporting their families through really difficult and emotional times, and amazing as it is a children’s hospice receives a much lower level of funding than a hospice for adults – it relies on its excellent fundraising work and donations to raise money so it can continue to provide such a high standard of care.”

“I’ve personally supported Martin House in various guises for many years because of the fantastic work they do. These are local children, all of whom have a life-limited future, so as a successful Leeds-based business making Martin House our first charity of the year was an easy decision to make.”

Martin House Children’s Hospice provides family-led care for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. It is a place where children, young people and their families stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help.

The new relationship means DTP through corporate events and its staff from all its UK offices will dedicate all fundraising activity throughout 2012 to Martin House. DTP has committed to matching every pound raised by its staff.

The first fundraiser, a staff pool competition, took place this week and raised an additional £100 for the hospice. More events are planned throughout the year. DTP will also support and encourage staff who wish to volunteer for the Wetherby charity.

John Haigh, Corporate Fundraiser from Martin House said: “Despite the difficult circumstances facing all business for the foreseeable future, we continue to be amazed and gratified by the generosity of DTP and other companies in committing to actively support our fundraising efforts, which are absolutely essential in enabling us to fund the vital work we do in support of local children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families.  It is really great to have the DTP team on board.”
